Fall is right around the corner, and although I will miss summer, fall isn’t so bad. It’s officially football season, playoff baseball is right around the corner, and all the fall beers are on tap. Did I mention my Birthday is in October? And last but not least, fall cocktails are now in season.
The caramel apple martini or candy apple martini is like biting into a juicy caramel covered apple. A slightly sweet apple martini enhanced with caramel and vanilla vodka, plus some apple cider. I made about two dozen of these for a Christmas Eve party a few years back. Yeah, It gets pretty wild.
This recipe was originally a more complex cocktail that evolved over the course of the night as I started to run out of alcohol. So it either rings true that simpler is always better or everyone was too liquored up to taste the difference anyway.
How to Make A Caramel Apple Martini
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a large cup of ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a thin slice of caramel covered apple.
There is one more optional ingredient I’ve added below. Sour Apple Pucker. Sour Apple Pucker is a sickly green liqueur that tastes like green apple. It’s tart and sweet and an interesting add to this cocktail if you love green apples. It will add a more prominent apple kick to the drink.
Does this really taste like a caramel apple? I think the only thing closer you could get is if you put a whole caramel apple through a juicer and added vodka. Now there’s an idea…
